Undrafted forward Gates signing with Bulls

Former Xavier forward Kaiser Gates is apparently headed to the Bulls.

The Chicago Bulls have agreed to a one-year contract with undrafted forward Kaiser Gates, according to a report from Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic.

The 6-foot-8 Gates declared for the draft following his junior season at Xavier. A league source told AmicoHoops that Gates was among a dozen or so players who worked out for the Atlanta Hawks last week.

He started 18 games last season and averaged 7.2 points and 4.6 rebounds, as the Muskateers garnered the first No. 1 NCAA tournament seed in school history. Gates was the lone junior on a starting five of otherwise all seniors.

Gates played for the Chicago Bulls in the Las Vegas summer league and participated in the Pro Basketball Combine in Orlando.
