Rockets’ Paul could play Friday, D’Antoni says

Rockets guard Chris Paul is close to returning from a strained left adductor.

Veteran point guard Chris Paul could return to the Houston Rockets lineup as soon as Friday’s game at the Washington Wizards, coach Mike D’Antoni told reporters Thursday.

Paul was working out prior to the Rockets’ game at the Boston Celtics on Friday. It will be his third straight missed game after suffering a strained left adductor.

If Paul is unable to go Friday vs. the Wizards he will be probable for Sunday’s game vs. the Los Angeles Lakers, D’Antoni said.

Paul, 32, is averaging 17.1 points and 9.0 assists in 17 games this season, his first with the Rockets.
