Big man Tavares waived by Cavs

Edy Tavares appeared in one regular-season game with the Cavaliers.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have waived center Edy Tavares, the team announced in a press release.

Tavares is 7-foot-3 and appeared in one game for the Cavs last season. He signed with the Cavs in April.

As for the preseason, Tavares played in two of the Cavs’ preseason games, compiling averages of 2.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per game in 4.9 minutes.

He is likely headed back to Raptors 905 of the G League, where was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2016-17.

Tavares has much superior hand eye coordination and softer hands to rebound block shots alter shots in the low post than zizic. He had a game against the raptors in april 2017 with 6 blocked shots, 10 rebounds and 12 points in about 24 minutes of playing time. Obviously a bit slow of foot and a liability in transition yet very effective in the quarter court when he can get established position in the low post on offense and defense. He has soft hands and can rebound and catch passes unlike ziviz a very slow awkward looking clumsy guy who appears to be all thumbs. Iogic tells me that zivic, slower than sasha kahn, will wind up playing basketball in the euro league sooner than later as he lacks the attributes to be anything more than a marginal player at best. I am 61 followed basketball since the 1960’s and am seldomly incorrect concerning these matters. I wish that i was wrong, yet dumbfounded that cavaliers player personnel evaluators could be this wrong about two players, tavares a keeper, zivic a castoff and reject.
