LeBron ruled out for Cavs vs. Wizards

LeBron James will miss his third preseason game when the Cavs take on the Wizards on Sunday.

Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James will miss his third straight preseason game Sunday at Washington, coach Tyronn Lue told reporters.

James missed a week after turning his ankle in practice, but returned to practice Thursday. He sat Wednesday’s preseason game vs. the Atlanta Hawks, as well as Friday’s 106-102 loss to the Indiana Pacers.

Lue said James’ ankle was still sore at practice Thursday, and that the Cavs will continue to hold him this weekend for precautionary reasons.

Cavs guard Iman Shumpert (foot) and rookie swingman Cedi Osman (back) also sat out vs. the Pacers. Shumpert is unlikely to return until the regular season opens Oct. 18.

The Cavs and Wizards tip off at 3 p.m. EST on Sunday. NBA TV is televising the game.
