Cavs keeping close tabs on Clippers’ Jordan

DeAndre Jordan of the Clippers missed his first game in his 10-year career Saturday night because of a sprained ankle.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are closely monitoring the DeAndre Jordan situation and quietly exploring the possibility of trading for the Los Angeles Clippers center, league sources told Amico Hoops on Wednesday.

Nothing is imminent and the Cavs have not yet been aggressive in a pursuit of Jordan, sources said, with one saying they are simply “sniffing around” the idea of a Jordan trade.

Jordan, 29, is averaging 11.1 points and 14.8 rebounds and is a noted swatter of shots. But the Clippers (11-18) have struggled mightily, following injuries and general issues with continuity.

It has been made pretty evident that the Clippers are open to the idea of moving Jordan, listed at 6-foot-11.

The Cavs (23-9) have won 18 of 20 entering Thursday’s home game against the Chicago Bulls.
