The Cleveland Cavaliers hosted Alabama point guard Collin Sexton for a pre-draft workout a day after the NBA Finals ended and is a strong possibility to be drafted by the franchise with the No. 8 overall pick, a league source told Amico Hoops.
Sexton averaged 19.2 points while dishing out 3.6 assists per game at Alabama, hitting 44.7 percent of his shots overall and 33.6 percent on 3-pointers.
The 6-3 guard is a rugged defender who can get to the rim at will and finish in heavy traffic. He excels at penetrating into the teeth of defenses, creating separation off the dribble and attacking the basket in transition.
As of now, Sexton’s perimeter shooting is considered the biggest skill he needs work on. Sexton’s most valuable skill is his quickness and driving ability, and once he works on his jump shot, he has a good chance at developing into an effective starter in the NBA.
According to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com, Cavs star LeBron James and his camp are high on Sexton as well.
