Dallas Mavericks rookie point guard Dennis Smith Jr. stood out at the Las Vegas summer league and was by far the most explosive player at the event.
The ninth overall pick in this year’s draft averaged 17.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists in Vegas while showing off his world-class athleticism and speed.
Smith Jr.’s rookie peers took notice of his immense talent and have voted him as the most likely winner of the 2017-18 Rookie of the Year award.
Lonzo Ball of the Los Angeles Lakers finished second, but he is predicted to have the best career out of any of the rookies based on the survey.
Smith Jr. recently signed a lucrative endorsement deal with Under Armour.
