Report: Withey signs with Mavericks

Jeff Withey has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the Mavericks.

The Dallas Mavericks have signed free-agent center Jeff Withey to a one-year contract, according to a report from The Vertical.

Withey, 27, averaged 2.9 points and 2.4 rebounds with the Utah Jazz last season. He has played 51 games in each of the past two seasons.

The 7-footer has also spent time with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Per The Vertical: “Withey is expected to provide the Mavericks with frontcourt depth. The Mavericks re-signed Dirk Nowitzki, drafted Dennis Smith Jr. this offseason, and plan to build around their young core of rookie Smith, Harrison BarnesSeth Curry and Nerlens Noel.”

Withey was cleared of a domestic violence allegation in June.
