Nuggets exercise options on five players

Jamal Murray and the Nuggets have their sights set on a playoff spot this season.

The Denver Nuggets have exercised the third-year options on Malik Beasley, Juancho Hernangomez and Jamal Murray, and the fourth-year options on Trey Lyles and Emmanuel Mudiay, general manager Tim Connelly said in a press release.

Lyles is a 6-foot-10 and was acquired from the Utah Jazz on draft night. He averaged 6.1 points and 3.5 rebounds in his first two seasons.

Mudiay is a 6-5 guard and has been a member of the Nuggets since they selected him with the No. 12 overall pick in 2015, averaging 12.0 points and 4.8 assists.

Beasley is also 6-5 and averaged 3.8 points last season as a rookie.

Hernangomez is 6-9 and was selected by the Nuggets with the 15th overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft. He averaged 4.9 points and 3.0 rebounds last season.

Finally, Murry is 6-4 and was taken with the No. 7 overall pick in 2016. He appeared in all 82 games and averaged 9.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists. His role is expected to increase this year.
