As expected, the Denver Nuggets have waived veteran point guard Jameer Nelson, according to a report from The Vertical.
The Nuggets will fill the open roster spot with forward Richard Jefferson, waived by the Atlanta Hawks following a trade from Cleveland last week.
Nelson, 35, is entering his 14th season, having spent the previous three years with the Nuggets. He spent the majority of his career with the Orlando Magic, and also made quick stops with the Boston Celtics (six games) and Dallas Mavericks (23).
Nelson is 6-foot-0 and averaged 9.2 points and 5.1 assists in 75 games last season. He is expected to immediately draw interest as a veteran backup around the league.
