The Detroit Pistons intend to interview former NBA point guard and TNT analyst Kenny Smith for their head coaching vacancy, according to Yahoo Sports.
Smith was also linked to the New York Knicks opening before they hired David Fizdale.
Smith, 53, spent 13 seasons in the NBA before retiring in 1997. He won back-to-back championships with the Houston Rockets in the mid-90s.
He appeared in nine games for the Pistons during the 1996-97 season. The Pistons are looking to fill front-office roles and replace former coach Stan Van Gundy, fired after the season.
