Free agent center Dewayne Dedmon has agreed to a contract with the Atlanta Hawks, according to a report from The Vertical.
Dedmon most recently played for the San Antonio Spurs, opting out of a two-year deal after the season. His contract with the Hawks is reportedly for two years and $14 million, and also includes a player option after the first season.
Per The Vertical: “Dedmon, one of the top available centers this summer, averaged 17.5 minutes, 5.1 points and 6.5 rebounds in 76 games with the San Antonio Spurs last season. Dedmon also started 37 regular-season games and three playoff games.”
Considered one of the league’s up-and-coming rim-protectors, the 7-foot-0 and springy Dedmon should help ease the loss of Dwight Howard (traded to Charlotte).
