Raptors fire Casey after second-round sweep

The Toronto Raptors have fired head coach Dwane Casey, according to a report from ESPN.

The Raptors had the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference this season with a record of 59-23, but were swept by LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round of the playoffs for the second consecutive year.

Casey has been with the Raptors since 2011. He compiled a regular season record of 320-238, but was just 21-30 in the postseason.

“Former Atlanta Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer is expected to get a close inspection for the Raptors opening,” ESPN wrote, citing sources. “Budenholzer met with Milwaukee on Tuesday, league sources said.”

Raptors 905 coach Jerry Stackhouse and Raptors assistant Nick Nurse are also expected to be considered, per ESPN.
