Report: Warriors, Thompson engaged in extension talks

The Golden State Warriors and shooting guard Klay Thompson have engaged in discussions regarding a contract extension, according to a report from The Athletic.

Thompson is currently under contract through the 2018-19 season and due to make $18.9 million next year.

Signing an extension would significantly decrease the maximum Thompson could make, but the sharpshooter is willing to take a team-friendly deal to stay with the Warriors.

Thompson is looking at a maximum five-year salary of $121 million should he sign an extension, per The Athletic. The 28-year-old has spent his entire career with the Warriors and has career averages of 19.2 points.
