The Phoenix Suns have reached agreement on a contract buyout with center Greg Monroe, according to a report from ESPN.
Monroe was acquired by the Suns in November in a trade that sent point guard Eric Bledsoe to the Milwaukee Bucks.
For the season, Monroe is averaging 10.4 points and 7.4 rebounds in 25 games.
“Once Monroe clears waivers, he will become an unrestricted free agent. There will be significant interest league-wide in signing Monroe for balance of the season.”
The Boston Celtics are “one of several contending teams” that may look to sign Monroe once he clears waivers, ESPN reported.
Monroe, 27, spent the first five seasons of his career with the Detroit Pistons.
