Thabeet set to work out for Knicks a third time

Free agent center Hasheem Thabeet last appeared in the NBA with the Thunder in 2014.

Former No. 2 overall draft pick Hasheem Thabeet is expected to work out for the New York Knicks in Westchester, N.Y., this week, according to Ben Stinar of Amico Hoops and Ian Begley of SNY.tv.

Thabeet has already worked out for the Knicks twice, as well as the Milwaukee Bucks on two occasions, as Stinar first reported.

Thabeet, 32, is 7-foot-3 and was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies with the No. 2 overall pick in 2009. He has also spent time with the Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers, and last played in the NBA with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2013-14.

“Thabeet spent this past year transforming his body and he has heard from multiple NBA teams that he is in great shape,” Stinar reported.

Thabeet carries NBA career averages of 2.2 points and 2.7 rebounds. He has also played professionally in Japan and in the G League with the Grand Rapids Drive, the Detroit Pistons’ affiliate.
