The Houston Rockets are waiving forward Brandan Wright and signing forward Le’Bryan Nash, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Wright’s contract was bought out by the Memphis Grizzlies last month, with the Rockets quickly signing him in hopes of adding depth to the frontcourt.
Per the Chronicle:
Wright played in one game before soreness in his right knee had the Rockets shut him down to work on strengthening the area around the knee. He had a minor procedure and will work on his rehab with the Rockets staff, the individual familiar with the plans said.
Nash had been playing for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the G League. As the Chronicle noted, he is not in the team’s immediate plans, but by signing him now the Rockets will have the “potential future Bird rights to him.”
