The Indiana Pacers have waived veteran shooting guard Monta Ellis, according to a report from Yahoo Sports.
Per the Indianapolis Star:
I can confirm Monta Ellis has been waived. No buyout. Teams have 48 hours to claim him and the final two years of his deal.
Since the end of the season, new general manager Kevin Pritchard and the Pacers have traded Paul George (to Oklahoma City for Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis), are likely to lose C.J. Miles in free agency, and have now parted ways with Ellis.
Ellis, 31, averaged 8.5 points last season — his lowest output since his rookie season of 2006-06. Along with the Pacers, he has also spent time with the Golden State Warriors, Milwaukee Bucks and Dallas Mavericks.
He would become an unrestricted free agent upon clearing waivers.
