Undrafted free agent guard Isaiah Briscoe has agreed to a training camp contract with the Portland Trail Blazers, according to a report from ESPN.
Briscoe is 6-foot-3 and played two years at the University of Kentucky before declaring for the draft following his sophomore season. He played for the Philadelphia 76ers during the NBA summer league.
Along with starters Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum, the Trail Blazers’ current list of guards includes Shabazz Napier, Pat Connaughton, and swingman Evan Turner. Another Kentucky product, Archie Goodwin, reportedly will also be in camp.
“Portland is one of the three NBA teams without an NBA G League squad, so Briscoe won’t have the opportunity to become an affiliate player for the Trail Blazers,” Hoops Rumors wrote. “However, if the club likes what it sees from the rookie guard, a two-way contract is a possibility — the Blazers have only used one of their two-way openings so far.”
Briscoe is a former McDonald’s All-American and member of the USA Today All-USA first team.
