Smith picks up option, will remain with Wizards

Wizards forward Jason Smith has spent 10 seasons in the NBA, mostly as a reserve big man.

Washington Wizards power forward/center Jason Smith will pick up the option in his contract and remain with the team for the 2018-19 season, according to NBC Sports Washington.

Smith, 32, signed a three-year contract worth $16 million in the summer of 2016 to join the Wizards as a free agent. He has also spent time with the New Orleans Pelicans, Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks and Orlando Magic.

The 7-foot Smith appeared in 33 games this past season, averaging 3.4 points and 1.6 rebounds.
