Wolves’ Butler suffers knee injury; MRI awaits

Jimmy Butler hopes to return to action for the Minnesota Timberwolves before the end of the regular season.

Minnesota Timberwolves star Jimmy Butler suffered a non-contact right knee injury in Friday’s 120-102 loss to the Houston Rockets and was forced to exit the game.

Butler was unable to put any weight on his right leg and needed help to the locker room.

Wolves coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters that Butler will undergo an MRI in Minnesota on Saturday, while Yahoo Sports is reporting X-rays on Butler’s knee returned negative.

Butler is the Wolves’ best player and leader. He entered Friday averaging 22.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists.
