Pistons land former Cavs guard Calderon

Former Cavaliers guard Jose Calderon is on his way to the Pistons.

Free-agent guard Jose Calderon has signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Pistons, sources told Amico Hoops on Monday.

The contract is for $2.4 million, according to ESPN’s Chris Haynes, who first reported the news.

Calderon, 36, spent this past season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, appearing in 57 games and making 32 starts. He averaged 4.5 points and 2.1 assists, and offered a calming influence both in the locker room and on the floor.

He has also spent time with the Toronto Raptors, Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Lakers.

This will be his second stint with the Pistons, as Calderon appeared in 28 games with Detroit during the 2012-13 season.

The Pistons hired Dwane Casey, previously of the Raptors, as their new head coach last month.
