Clippers deal Liggins, fall below tax line

Former Mavericks and Cavaliers swingman DeAndre Liggins has signed with the Heat.

The Los Angeles Clippers have traded DeAndre Liggins to the Atlanta Hawks to create a trade exception worth $1.67 million, according to a report from ESPN.

The Hawks will waive Liggins’ non-guaranteed contract, ESPN added.

By moving the 6-foot-6 swingman, the Clippers put themselves below the luxury-tax line, ESPN reported.

Liggins, 29, spent most of last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers before being waived in April.

He has also spent time with the Orlando Magic and Oklahoma City Thunder, and appeared in one game apiece with the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks.

The Mavs traded Liggins to the Clippers in July.
