The Memphis Grizzlies are exploring the possible trade return for Chandler Parsons and the No. 4 overall pick in Thursday’s draft, according to a report from Michael Scotto of The Athletic.
Parsons, 29, has missed a combined 94 games over the previous two seasons — and is still owed $49.2 million before his contract expires in the summer of 2020.
The 6-foot-9 small forward appeared in 36 games last season, averaging 7.9 points and 2.5 rebounds. That is down from his career scoring average of 13.1 points per game.
While it may be difficult to move that large contract, some teams are already interested in obtaining the fourth pick and working on a potential Parsons buyout.
Parsons has also spent time with the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks.
As Scotto also reported, the Brooklyn Nets may be looking to package picks and shooting guard Spencer Dinwiddie to move up in the draft.
