Undrafted guard Markel Crawford has signed a contract with the Memphis Grizzlies to attend training camp, as HoopsRumors noted.
Crawford is 6-foot-4 and played his college ball at Mississippi. The Memphis product played for the Grizzlies’ summer team after going undrafted.
“It means a lot … for me to be playing with a real grit-and-grind team means the world,” Crawford said in an interview with LocalMemphis.com.
He added that he found out about the deal with the Grizzlies via a text from his agent.
“The Grizzlies already have 15 players on guaranteed contracts and have filled both of their two-way contract slots, so Crawford is a long shot to make the team’s regular season roster,” Luke Adams of HoopsRumors wrote. “He may ultimately end up with the Grizzlies’ G League affiliate, the Memphis Hustle.”
