Heat’s White has foot surgery, out indefinitely

The Heat have added a big man to their training camp roster.

Miami Heat forward Okaro White underwent surgery on his left foot Thursday and remains out indefinitely, the team announced in a press release Thursday.

“White said he felt his foot ‘pop’ as he went up for a reverse layup in practice Tuesday,” according to the Miami Herald.

White is 6-foot-8 and has appeared in six games (four starts) with the Heat this season. He is averaging 3.3 points and 1.8 rebounds in 13.3 minutes per game.

The surgery to repair a fifth metatarsal fracture in White’s foot took 85 minutes, the team said.

The Heat have not yet released a timetable for White’s return.
