The Milwaukee Bucks are closing in on hiring director of basketball operations Jon Horst as their new general manager, according to a report from The Vertical.
Per the website:
Sources: Over past couple of days, ownership has been searching for a veteran NBA executive to pair with Horst in the front office.
The Bucks are looking to replace former GM John Hammond, who left for the same position with the Orlando Magic.
Horst was never reported among the supposed three finalists for the position. That list: Justin Zanik (Bucks assistant GM), Arturas Karnisovas (Denver assistant GM), and Wes Wilcox (former Atlanta GM). Karnisovas, however, has since received a promotion from the Nuggets to remove himself from the running.
As Hoops Rumors noted: “If the Bucks do finalize Horst as the new GM and bring in an outside executive to work with him in the front office, it will be interesting to see whether Zanik remains in Milwaukee, having been passed over for a promotion. Zanik has been leading the club’s draft preparations since Hammond left for the Magic.”
