Thibodeau releases three assistant coaches

Tom Thibodeau and the Timberwolves are coming off a playoff appearance.

Minnesota Timberwolves coach Tom Thibodeau released three assistants Monday, perhaps in an effort to downsize the staff.

In other words, Thibodeau may not replace the three who were let go.

Gone from the Timberwolves are Vince Legarza, Peter Patton and Wes Bohn. Legarza was the assistant who worked most closely with Wolves center Karl-Anthony Towns.

The Athletic broke the news of the moves and the idea that Thibodeau may not replace the assistants.

The Timberwolves finished 47-35 this season, Thibodeau’s second in Minnesota, before losing to the Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs.
