Bamba makes it official: NBA draft is next

Mohamed Bomba is expected to fall somewhere within the top 10 picks of the NBA draft in June.

Texas center Mohamed Bamba said Tuesday he is entering the NBA draft, an announcement that comes as no surprise considering he is expected to fall within the top five-to-seven picks.

“After an incredibly rewarding year at the University of Texas, I will not be returning to school as I will be entering the NBA draft,” Bamba said in a statement.

Bamba is a 7-footer with a 7-foot-9 wingspan and was among the top freshmen in college basketball this past season. He averaged 12.9 points and 10.5 rebounds, and was second in the nation in blocks at 3.7 per game. He compiled 15 double-doubles, including eight in 11 games midway through the season.

The latest NBADraft.net mock draft has Bamba being selected by Sacramento with the No. 5 overall pick.
