The Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors will each bring in draft prospect LiAngelo Ball for a workout, according to Yahoo Sports.
Ball, 19, is the younger brother of Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball. LiAngelo is not listed as a first- or second-round selection in most mainstream mock drafts.
“If he gets drafted it will be as a publicity stunt only,” one scout told Amico Hoops. “Not saying that’s a terrible reason if you have a second-rounder that you don’t plan to utilize. But he’s not an NBA player.”
LiAngelo Ball is a 6-foot-5 swingman and spent this past season playing for Lithuanian club Vytautas Prienai-Birštonas.
“He did OK over there,” the scout said. “But there are a better American players overseas who wouldn’t get drafted. I don’t see how he does unless a team wants some extra media attention for training camp.”
Ball will work out for the Lakers on Tuesday and the Warriors on June 10, Yahoo reported.
