Cunningham agrees to Pelicans return

Dante Cunningham is set to return to the Pelicans.

Free agent forward Dante Cunningham has agreed to a one-year, $2.3 million contract with the New Orleans Pelicans, according to a report from The Vertical.

Cunningham had been on the radar of several teams, including the Milwaukee Bucks, and especially, Minnesota Timberwolves.

His signing is the latest move in a fairly busy offseason for the Pelicans — who also signed free agent guards Rajon Rondo and Tony Allen. They also invited veteran free agent swingman Martell Webster and forward Perry Jones III to training camp.

Cunningham, 30, is 6-foot-8 and averaged 6.6 points in 66 games with the Pelicans last season. He entered free agency after the season.

The Pelicans are looking for a replacement for starting Solomon Hill, expected to miss six to eight months following hamstring surgery.
