Veteran guard Crawford signs with Pelicans

Jordan Crawford has appeared in a combined 21 games over the past two seasons with the Pelicans.

The New Orleans Pelicans have signed free agent shooting guard Jordan Crawford, the team announced Thursday.

Crawford, 29, started the season with New Orleans but was waived after just two games. He has appeared in 21 games with the Pelicans over the past two seasons, averaging 13.6 points in that span.

Drafted No. 27 by the Brooklyn Nets in 2010, Crawford has also spent time with the Atlanta Hawks, Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors. He carries career averages of 12.3 points and 3.2 assists.

The Pelicans (44-34) sat in eighth place in the Western Conference standings, one game ahead of the Denver Nuggets, entering Thursday night.
