It’s been rumored that Jeff Hornacek is on the hot seat as coach of the New York Knicks.
It’s been rumored that Doc Rivers could move on as coach of the Los Angeles Clippers.
You can probably guess the rumor that is coming next.
According to the New York Post, a former Rivers associate indicated that “it’s not far-fetched for the one-time Knicks guard to have interest in the team’s coaching job if Jeff Hornacek, who has one year left on his contract, is let go after the season.”
That quote came from longtime and dialed-in Knicks beat reporter Marc Berman.
This one comes (via Berman) from Rivers’ associate: “Doc enjoyed his time there. He respects the city, he respects the organization.’’
A lot can and will happen between now and next season, but the Knicks, as always, will be a team to keep an eye on, a franchise surrounded by the never-ending pro basketball rumor mill.
“If Rivers were to bring along Mike Woodson as his associate coach, all the better fit,” Berman wrote. “A Rivers-Woodson ticket would excite the despondent Knicks fan base a whole lot more than the current Hornacek-Kurt Rambis pairing.”
