Knicks’ Hardaway Jr.: Knee issue ‘serious’

Tim Hardaway Jr. is moving toward a return to the Knicks' lineup.

New York Knicks shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. told reporters his leg injury is “serious” and really couldn’t say when he might return.

Hardaway Jr. is the Knicks’ second-leading scorer at 17.8 points in 21 games. He has been out since Nov. 29 with what the team called a “stress injury” in his left leg.

“I’m not giving myself a deadline. I don’t want to get to that point and be upset and down on myself,” Hardaway told reporters, via the New York Post. “I don’t want to give myself a set date on when I should return. I’ll do what I can to get this right. When I’m confident and ready to go, then we’ll see.”

According to the Post, Hardaway Jr. will be re-evaluated early next week.

“This is serious,” he said. “I’m going to take everything slow. This is a serious injury.”
