The Philadelphia 76ers’ affiliate in the NBA G League will now be known as the Delaware Blue Coats, the teams announced Wednesday.
They were previously called the Delaware 87ers.
“We are energized by our new look and the opportunity for the Blue Coats to build something special in Wilmington,” said Delaware general manager Elton Brand. “Our players will be proud to wear ‘Blue Coats’ across their chests for all it will come to represent: first-in-class player development, team culture, fan engagement and local activism.”
The Blue Coats will play home games in 76ers Fieldhouse, a new arena with a capacity of approximately 2,500.
