Report: Sixers to visit Knicks for Christmas

Joel Embiid and the Sixers raced past the Blazers on Wednesday.

The Philadelphia 76ers will face the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Christmas Day, according to a report from Philadelphia’s WIP Radio.

The Philadelphia Inquirer later confirmed the report.

Neither the Sixers nor the Knicks made the playoffs last season, but both clubs, especially the Sixers, could see marked improvement this year.

The Sixers feature rising center Joel Embiid and the last two No. 1 overall draft picks, forward Ben Simmons and point guard Markelle Fultz. The Knicks, of course, are still trying to figure their next move with star forward Carmelo Anthony.

The Knicks finished 31-51 last season; the Sixers 28-54.

Here is more out of Philadelphia:

  • The Sixers are scheduled to hold Media Day on Sept. 25, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Training camp is expected to tip off the next day.
  • In other schedule news, the Sixers will face the Boston Celtics in London on Jan. 11, the league announced Thursday. The game will be held at O2 Arena and tickets go on sale in October. It counts as a home game for the Sixers, meaning they will play one less than the normal 41 in Philadelphia this season.
