Suns interested in trading Chandler, Dudley

Suns center Tyson Chandler could be on the move soon.

The Phoenix Suns have explored trades involving center Tyson Chandler and swingman Jared Dudley, according to a piece from Zach Lowe of ESPN

However, Lowe added, the Suns remain below the salary cap floor and aren’t feeling desperate in their quest to trade either player.

Along with those two, the Suns are open to moving point guard Eric Bledsoe, Lowe reported. Bledsoe was linked to the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier in the offseason, but that was long before the team shipped Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics.

Chandler, 35, averaged 8.4 points and 11.5 rebounds in 47 games last season.

Dudley, 32, averaged 6.8 points and 3.5 boards.

The Suns are looking to build around Devin Booker, T.J. Warren, rookie forward Josh Jackson and other young players.

  1. Give them Frye, Shumpert and Felder for Chandler

    • So you want Chandler to be third choice Centre behind Love and TT? Makes zero sense whatsoever.

Shumpert and RJ for Tyson. The numbers add up.

And in other news, “Water is wet.”

Chandler still has some value as a post defender and rebounder, but he’s not much of a rim protector anymore and his offense is nearly non-existent. Dudley is a decent role player and has a dependable three-point shot. Either guy would probably make a good edition to a team looking to fill a hole in their rotation.

Bledsoe on the other hand, is very good player and should get something of value in return. Good defender and scorer, can rebound, but he’s not a true point guard. If a team had them as their third guard he’d probably be among the best of them in the league.

    • Haha, that is all true, Robert. Bledsoe would be a lethal guy off the bench for sure. Appreciate you reading and taking the time to comment. You do great work and have been a fan of the APBR for some time. – Sam

Another trade approved: Shumpert, Frye, RJ and Cedi for Tyson and Dudley. Guys are high on Cedi, but I would pull the trigger on this.

    Cavs new line up:

Love, LeBron, Jae, D Rose, Wade

Thanks for the kind words Sam, as you know I’m a long-time follower of you work.

As for some of the trade scenarios being thrown out, people will have to realize that the Suns are looking for either young players, future draft picks or more cap flexibility. Players like Shumpert, Jefferson and Frye don’t offer much to the Suns unless the Cavs include a draft choice – and the Cavs options on trading draft choices is a little limited for the next couple of years.
