The Milwaukee Bucks plan to waive journeyman center Spencer Hawes via the stretch provision, according to a report from ESPN.
Along with the Bucks, Hawes has served stints with the Sacramento Kings, Philadelphia 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Clippers and Charlotte Hornets.
Per ESPN: “The Bucks will use the stretch provision to spread the balance of Hawes’ $6.2 million salary this season over three years, sparing the franchise the full salary-cap hit this year.”
Hawes, 29, will become an unrestricted free agent after clearing waivers.
Second-year man Thon Makers and Greg Monroe are the Bucks other centers, with power forward John Henson also occasionally playing the position.
