The Washington Wizards have been involved in trade talks in regards to starting center Marcin Gortat, according to a report.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reports the Wizards are on the prowl to improve their team immediately, but not at the cost of taking on more long-term money.
Even though the Wizards’ lost All-Star point guard John Wall for up to two months because of knee surgery, they are surging, having won five consecutive games and stand 31-22, just a half-game behind the Cleveland Cavaliers for third place in the Eastern Conference.
Gortat is averaging 8.9 points and 8.0 rebounds for Washington this season. He has one year remaining on his contract, calling for $13.5 million.
The NBA trade deadline is Thursday at 3 p.m. EST.
