The New York Knicks are finalizing a trade that will send big man Willy Hernangomez to the Charlotte Hornets, according to a report from Yahoo Sports.
In return, the Knicks will receive power forward Johnny O’Bryant and the Hornets’ 2020 and 2021 second-round draft picks, Yahoo Sports added.
Hernangomez, 23, recently requested a trade after falling out of the rotation. He is in his second NBA season. The Knicks have been looking to move him for some time.
He averaged 8.2 points and 7.0 rebounds in 72 games last season, emerging alongside close friend and All-Star Kristaps Porzingis. However, with decreased playing time, Hernangomez’s averages have dipped to 4.4 points and
O’Bryant, 24, is in his fourth NBA season and averaging 4.8 points and 2.6 rebounds.
