NBA Season Preview: Cleveland Cavaliers

CLEVELAND CAVALIERS

Camp Location: Cleveland Clinic Courts, Independence, Ohio.

Coach: Tyronn Lue, one year, 27-14.

Last Season: 57-25, defeated Golden State for NBA championship.

Key Returnees: LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, J.R. Smith, Tristan Thompson, Iman Shumpert, Richard Jefferson, James Jones, Channing Frye, Jordan McRae.

Key Additions: Chris Andersen (Memphis), Mike Dunleavy (Chicago), Kay Felder (rookie, Oakland), DeAndre Liggins (D-League).

Key Losses: Matthew Dellavedova (Milwaukee), Timofey Mozgov (LA Lakers), Sasha Kaun (retired).

Outlook: Champions. At last. So what do the Cavaliers do for a follow-up? Well, to a man, it appears there is a strong belief that the answer is to repeat. LeBron James now has three rings and wants no less than two more. If he can’t catch Michael Jordan (six championships), LeBron wants to at least catch Kobe Bryant (five). It also is a huge help that Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, J.R. Smith and Tristan Thompson now have championship experience. Same goes for Tyronn Lue as a coach. The Cavs will collect rings and see a banner raised. They are celebrating with their city. They are loose, they are having fun, they truly believe they can do it all again. And who would dare say that they can’t?
