Cavs’ preseason slate includes game at Michigan State

Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love always seems to draw plenty of interest around the trade deadline.

The new-look Cleveland Cavaliers are back in business. Well, almost. Training camp is still about six weeks away, but the Cavs, entering another era minus LeBron James, at least know who they’re playing in the preseason.

So does everyone else, as the Cavs released their preseason schedule Thursday.

It all begins in a “rematch” of the Eastern Conference Finals, with the Cavs opening the preseason Oct. 2 at the Boston Celtics. They will face the Celtics again Oct. 6 at Quicken Loans Arena.

After that, it’s another rematch of sorts, as the Cavs will face the Indiana Pacers on Oct. 8, also at The Q. The surprising Pacers took the Cavs to seven games in the first round of the East playoffs last season.

Finally, the preseason ends at the alma mater of Cavs owner Dan Gilbert — when the Cavs meet the Detroit Pistons on Oct. 10 at Michigan State University’s Breslin Center.

Per the Cavs’ announcement:

“The Breslin Center features Gilbert Pavilion, a grand entrance to the facility that honors the success and history of both the men’s and women’s basketball programs. Gilbert Pavilion opened on Oct. 20, 2017 and was funded through private donations, including contributions from Cavaliers Chairman and Michigan State alumnus Dan Gilbert and his wife, Jennifer Gilbert. This will mark the Cavaliers’ first-ever game at the Breslin Center.”

All four of the Cavs’ preseason games will be broadcast on FOX Sports Ohio.
