Sixers rookie Smith injures foot during workout

Sixers rookie Zhaire Smith was selected with the No. 16 overall pick.

Philadelphia 76ers rookie shooting guard Zhaire Smith suffered a foot injury during a workout in Las Vegas, the team announced Tuesday.

Smith is 6-foot-5 and was selected by the Phoenix Suns with the No. 16 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. He was immediately traded, along with the Miami Heat’s 2021 first round pick, to the Philadelphia 76ers for the draft rights to Mikal Bridges.

Smith spent one season at Texas Tech and averaged 11.3 points.
