The Brooklyn Nets intend to waive Greg Monroe after acquiring him in a trade with the Toronto Raptors ahead of Thursday’s deadline, according to Michael Scotto of The Athletic.
The Nets also received the Raptors’ 2021 pick in the deal and sent cash back to the Raptors.
Monroe, 28, averaged 4.8 points and 4.1 rebounds with the Raptors this season. He is likely to draw interest on the buyout market. He has also spent time with the Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks.
In a related move, the Nets announced they have released forward Mitch Creek. He signed a second 10-day contract with the team Monday.
