Just in case none of us knew how LeBron James and his inner circle came to the conclusion go west, young man, was the best direction for him to head when he hit free agency last summer, Rich Paul provided some clarity.
Well, perhaps “clarity” would be an overstatement.
During a discussion on “More Than An Athlete,” James’ program on ESPN+ which features him, Paul, Maverick Carter and Randy Mims, Paul rationalized how the choice of Los Angeles and the Lakers came to fruition as opposed to remaining in Cleveland with the Cavaliers or heading to Philadelphia with the 76ers.

“I said let’s go through this exercise,” Paul said. “If you stay and y’all lose 10 games in a row, you got’ be like, ‘Damn, maybe I should’ve went to Philly or LA.’ If you go to Philly and y’all lose 10 games in a row, you’d be like ‘Damn, maybe I should’ve stayed or went to LA.’
“But if you go to LA and you lose 10 games in a row, it’s like, ‘Well, sh*t, we gotta figure this thing out.’ It’s as simple as that. That’s how you know it’s the right decision.”
Got that, basketball fans?
