New Orleans Pelicans forward and No. 1 overall draft pick Zion Williamson is expected to participate in 5-on-5 practice Tuesday, according to Andrew Lopez of ESPN.
Williamson had right knee meniscus surgery Oct. 21, keeping him out of the entire regular season so far. He did play four preseason games, averaging 23.3 points on 71 percent shooting. He also collected 6.5 rebounds.
“On Friday, ESPN reported that Williamson needed about three or four more practices before the Pelicans would clear him to take the preseason assessment test that would allow him to return to game action,” Lopez wrote.
The Pelicans have had a hard time getting in those practices, simply because they’ve had games. Williamson was spotted going through a workout and throwing down dunks prior to Monday’s home loss to Utah.
