Report: Jazz ready, willing, able to deal

Derrick Favors of the Jazz is expected to draw much interest on the trade market, according to a report.

The Utah Jazz have opened the doors and are open for business, according to a report.

Sam Amico of USA Today joined Alex Kennedy on the HoopsHype Podcast and said the Jazz are more-than-willing trade partners for needs in search of possible upgrades.

“Listen, my understanding of Utah’s situation is that they’re as much of an open shop as there is in the league right now,” Amick said. “Whether it’s Derrick Favors or Rodney Hood or even Ricky Rubio, they want to turn the page. They want to maximize Rudy Gobert’s prime.”

Amick said he expects Hood is the most likely to be dealt, while Favors will be the subject of calls from other teams and Rubio would be a good trade chip, as well.

“Utah is going to look at everything right now. They obviously don’t feel like they have their core and they’re trying to figure things out,” Amick said. “But yeah, I think Rodney gets moved. I think Derrick will draw decent interest. And the Rubio one, I didn’t know what to make of it.

“But if they are truly open to parting ways with Ricky, I think he’d have a good market too.”

The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 8.

  1. Hood is shooting a career high from 3-pt range. Hood and Hill would make for a nice backcourt duo on both ends of the floor.

  2. Should offer TT and the Cavs first for Favours and Hood.

    • I like that Steve. A lot will depend on how badly the Jazz want to unload Favors, because they aren’t so sure they want to trade Hood, it seems. But they may need to attach him to a deal if they want to move Favors. But you’re right — if you’re the Cavs, it wouldn’t hurt to ask.

    • I agree then stretch JR

  3. Either Thompson or JR Smith.
