Mike James will be staying put with the New Orleans Pelicans, according to a report.

The 6-foot-1, 189-pound James will sign a two-way contract with New Orleans, according to a report by William Guillory of The Times-Picayune.

James’ remaining two-way days will take him past the NBA’s Feb. 8 trade deadline and All-Star break with the Pelicans.

The 27-year-old rookie was waived by the Phoenix Suns on Dec. 23 after averaging 10.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 20.9 minutes for Phoenix in 32 games (including 10 starts).

James, a Lamar University product, was the first player in league history two move from a two-year deal to a standard contract when he signed a non-guaranteed pact with Phoenix on Dec. 7.
