San Antonio Spurs star small forward Kawhi Leonard won’t make his much-anticipated return this week, according to a report from Yahoo Sports.
This past Saturday, ESPN reported that Leonard and the Spurs were targeting Thursday’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans for the All-Star to return to the lineup from his lingering quadriceps injury.
Leonard, however, is still not ready to play and will continue to evaluate his injury for a possible comeback before the season ends, per Yahoo Sports.
The two-time Defensive Player of the Year averaged 16.2 points in the nine games he appeared in before the Spurs shut him down on Jan. 15 after a setback in the quadriceps.
The Spurs are currently out of the playoff picture and sit at the 10th spot in the Western Conference.
