Rockets’ Anthony aiming to make hoops fun again

Carmelo Anthony has seemingly found new basketball life with the Rockets.

It’s a new day for Carmelo Anthony with the Houston Rockets and he would like it to be a more enjoyable day as well.

“Just enjoy the game and play basketball … I’ve been doing it for a long time,” Anthony said, via a report from the Houston Chronicle. “I still know how to do it. I’ve just got to make it fun. The game just has to be fun.”

Anthony spent one season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, was traded to the Atlanta Hawks and made his way to the Rockets, courtesy of a one-year contract signed in August. He could come off the bench. He could start. He has said he’s looking forward to playing alongside Rockets stars James Harden and Chris Paul.

This Anthony’s second run under Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni. The two were together with the New York Knicks. That didn’t go so well, but both men have insisted they’re excited their two-man band is back together.

“He’s a great basketball player, so we just try to make it optimal for him and us,” D’Antoni said. “It’s always a little bit of a challenge, but if you had asked me the same question (last year) about James and Chris I would have said the same thing: ‘Well, it looks good. I’m excited.’ So same thing with him.”
